A task force organized by the Cancer National Institut of France (INCa) had provided recommendations for risk reduction strategies for individuals carrying mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes. Presumptive benefits, disadvantages and limits of three strategies (breast screening, salpingo-oophorectomy, bilateral mastectomy) are detailed. Current recommendations regarding cancer screening and prevention require careful consultation between clinicians, cancer genetic services and well-informed patients.
