摘要
The development and present status of clinical animal behavior in America is briefly described. Clinical animal behaviorists are characterized (1) by their university education in the animal behavioral sciences of experimental animal psychology and ethology, and (2) by their knowledge of both conventional methods and recently developed "animal behavior therapy" methods for correcting dog and cat behavioral problems. A sixteen article self-study course in clinical animal behavior is outlined. As an example, an animal behavior therapy method to correct the minor problem of jumping up in dogs is described in a detailed step-by-step way.
