摘要
Arising with industrialization and urbanization and with London clubs as their epicenter, sports are perhaps the most powerful expression of modernity. Nevertheless, the spread of sports from the Victorian metropolis and the appropriation by different societies of the moral values they represented deserve a detailed study that takes into account both the scenarios of struggle and the popularization of sports through soccer and cycling. The article offers an analytical overview of the development of sports from their modern consolidation in England to their social flourishing in Colombia. To that effect, it makes use of conceptual frameworks regarding the development of the so-called "modernity" in our country.
