摘要：

This article gives an overview on the new versions of the orthographic standards in Bulgarian, Russian, German and French. It makes a historic review of the reforms in the particular languages since the middle of the 20th century up to now. The main changes in the spelling rules have been thoroughly analyzed. Based on that analysis it has been drawn a conclusion about general tendencies in the development of European languages.
