摘要
It was previously demonstrated that an acute inflammatory exudate, when applied to macrophages in culture, is capable of inducing mitosis of these cells in vitro. This property was also evident in inflammatory serum, i.e. serum taken from animals presenting an inflammatory reaction. In the present work we have investigated whether an acute inflammation induced by a calcium pyrophosphate pleurisy could influence one of the immune reactions mediated, at least in part, by macrophages namely the antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) directed against antibody-coated chicken erythrocytes. The results indicate that in spleen cells ADCC was stimulated as early as 2 h after induction of the inflammation. This stimulatory effect remained throughout the period of observation but began to reduce at day 5. In addition we have investigated whether serum from rats undergoing such an acute inflammatory process could influence ADCC when injected i.v. in normal mice; an observed increase in the cytotoxic reaction 3 days after the administration of rat serum, did not seem to be due to macrophage effector cells. © 1979.
