摘要：
Five concepts of mental retardation have been reviewed and evaluated in the light of contemporary scientific psychology. Of the five, the restricted developmental approach was advanced as the most defensible not only because it is an integral part of an empirically based behavior theory of human development but also because it points the way to more humane and positive treatment programs for mentally retarded persons of all ages.
