Issues about teacher training in the early childhood education

摘要
The article discusses some issues about initial formation of early childhood education professionals. The analysis starts from the new legal landmark established by the federal law 9394/96, which was followed by the increasing of registrations in early childhood education during the 2000s and the consequent significant rise on the demand for teachers in nurseries and preschools in Brazil. The text argues that these important changes do not seem to influence neither the continuation of an initial formation model for teachers of both early childhood education and elementary school, which has been a heritage from previous decades, neither the detrimental position of professional who work with children younger than six or seven years old (especially in nurseries), in comparison with those professional who work in elementary or high school. The article opposes the delay in reviewing standards of initial and continuous teacher's formation offer, career and working conditions.
