摘要
Introduction: In a so-called epidemiological transition environment, the cancer is one of the main health problems in Mexico. Attention of the psychological aspects associated with the disease is relevant in relationship with the course and the quality of life of those who suffer it. This research aimed to undertake a review of the studies reported in MedLine and PsycINFO in the period 1990 to 2010 on depression and anxiety in testicular cancer patients in treatment or follow-up period. Methods: The articles included covered the following criteria`s: 1) Patients between 15 and 45 years of age, and 2) evaluation of depression and anxiety based in existing diagnostic criteria (APA / WHO) and by valid and reliable instruments. Results: The number of identiied studies is low compared with other oncological processes, even more in Mexico. Not yet conclusive, the literature indicates that depression and anxiety is more prevalent during the treatment and decrease in the followup period. Younger patients have an increased risk of presenting anxiety and depression. Conclusion: It's essential to implement psychological interventions to develop better coping strategies mainly during medical treatment.
