摘要
A small dimensions cold-cathode triode (prototype) designed as a flash X-ray source is described. The device operates with an electron beam generated by explosive emission in an assembly formed by a pin-shaped metallic electrode (cathode) and a screen-anode of 70 % in optical transparency. The assembly is excited with negative polarity high-voltage pulses of up to 60 kV peak, which are provided by a Marx bank. The electron beam is injected in a second region delineated by the screen and a bremsstrahlung conversion electrode that is biased at voltages of several kV. The advantage of the triode regards the diodes is that omits the reduced thickness metallic foil which normally serve as a pressure sealing, discharge anode and bremsstrahlung conversion electrode and whose fast structural degradation limits its lifetime.
