EXCESS ISENTROPIC COMPRESSIBILITIES OF N,N-DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE AND N,N-DIMETHYLACETAMIDE WITH ALIPHATIC ESTERS AT 303.15-K

Excess isentropic compressibilities, ksE, for the binary mixtures of N,N-dimethylformamide and N,N-dimethyl-acetamide with ethylacetate, n-propylacetate, n-butyl-acetate, isopropylacetate and isoamylacetate have been calculated at 303.15 K using measured sound velocity and density data. In the systems N,N-dimethyl-formamide with isoamylacetate and N,N-dimethyl-acetamide with n-butylacetate and isoamylacetate ksE values are slightly positive at lower mole fractions of amide and become negative with increasing mole fraction. The ksE values in the other systems are negative over the complete range of mole fraction. The results have been discussed in terms of the effects of carbon chain length and chain branching of esters on the specific interactions between unlike molecules. © 1990.
