Fifty-six patients with psoriatic arthropathy have been reviewed to assess the extent and severity of their hand involvement. The hand was affected in 84% of cases. Although the distal interphalangeal joints are said to be classically affected, we found the proximal interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal to be more frequently involved. Many other findings often associated with rheumatoid arthritis (e.g. boutonniere and swan-neck deformities, or tenosynovitis) can be seen in psoriatic arthropathy. © 1990.
