摘要
The attenuation of ultrasound was studied in samples of pearlitic steel taken from railway wheels containing between 0.53 and 0.61% carbon. A strong dependence of ultrasonic attenuation on grain size was observed; in addition a relationship was shown between the interlamellar spacing of pearlite in the steel and the attenuation coefficient. The scattering losses in the Rayleigh zone of the pearlitic/ferritic steel were found to be proportional to the spacing of the cementite lamellae in the pearlitic structure. © 1979.
