摘要:
The collection of work 'Slut: Fea,' explores sexuality and sexual identity. In poetry and prose, the author takes a graphically honest, predominantly female, perspective on sex and sexual relationships. The poems concentrate on private experiences and feelings specific to sexual love and to other sexual encounters, and many of these experiences are directly autobiographical. The writer feels constant pressure to be sexually active and a simultaneous pressure to avoid the label of 'slut'. The price of such behaviour, which is both imposed and complicitly accepted, is that the young woman exploits her own body and her sense of self. The collection centres on the emotions and perceived details of sexual relationships that are loving, abusive or even criminal. The emotional situations and events that range from the guilt that may follow the socially encouraged yet distinctly male-biased one night stand to the intricate and delicate workings of love, both same sex and heterosexual. The poems and short stories focuses on the negative more than the positive, informed from the centre by the contradictions endemic in society.
