摘要：
Theory and experimental evidence for self-thinning have been presented almost exclusively for plants. Recently in the pages of this journal, Latto (Oikos 69: 531-534) has presented relationships for self thinning in mobile animals. We would like to pursue this further and discuss general aspects of self-thinning in animal populations.
