Recent development of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is briefly reviewed and the subjects to be overcome in MIM process (mixing, injection, debinding, and sintering) are pointed out. In the injection molding of metal powders some liquid is often added to the powders in order to increase fluidity of injection material. This solid particle-liquid mixed medium is supposed to have a unique property for pressure transmission behavior, in which the Pascal's principle may not be applied. In this paper formulae of the vertical and horizontal pressure distributions for solid-liquid two phase medium are derived. The present formulae are reduced to the Janssen's formulae when the injection material contains solid particles only and, predict the well known pressure distribution of water when the material contains no solid particles. The present model predicts a variety of pressure distribution patterns depending on parameters set.
