摘要：

This paper sets out to make a contribution to the study of exonyms, in the context of the work being done by Euskaltzaindia with a view to standardising, through rules, exonyms in Basque. This contribution has one peculiarity: it takes as its basis a classical text, Homer's Odyssey. The names that appear in the Odyssey have persisted for twenty-eight centuries and some of them have acquired symbolic meaning in modern life. Moreover, it could serve for adding to the list of exonyms already approved by the Academy, and therefore be implemented in Basque teaching texts.
