摘要
Continuous long period hydrogeological records of aquifer characteristics in the Basement Complex terrain in this area are not available. Recharge into the aquifer and its continuity of supply are controlled by the seasonal rainfall. Studies of heavy isotopes of oxygen (oxygen-18) and hydrogen (deuterium) have been made to help provide essential information about the origin of recharge. Comparison of delta-O-18-delta-H-2 relationship of groundwater from wells and rainfall shows that a large amount of recharge takes place during the heavy rainfall period and a possible small amount of recharge takes place during the low intensity rainstorm period. The groundwater and river water show very low dissolved constituents with low electrical conductivity. Hydrograph analyses show that baseflow recession takes place quite rapidly at the end of the rainy season.
