INFLUENCE OF SOUND ON THE NORMAL-MODES OF OSCILLATION OF A LIQUID-GAS INTERFACE IN A BOUNDED VOLUME

The influence of an acoustic field generated in a ps on the frequencies and mode shapes of the oscillations of a liquid-gas interface is investigated in a near-weightless environment. The liquid is placed in a cylindrical container of finite length, and the gas is situated above the free surface of the liquid. The problem is investigated in the nonlinear hydrodynamic formulation. The qualitative and quantitative variations of the spectrum of frequencies and normal modes of the liquid are illustrated in an example. It is shown that acoustic irradiation of the free surface of a confined volume of liquid on the side adjacent to the gas can produce distinct variations of the spectral parameters of the system.
