Model of Ripeness of Ergonomics for Companies (MMEE)

Often the introduction of the Ergonomics at the enterprises is detonated by the increase of injuries and illness. However, this process does not happen abruptly, but rather follows a recognizable maturation process. This paper presents an ergonomic maturity model in order to assess the capability of an enterprise for implementing an ergonomic program. The proposed model establishes five maturity levels: Ignorance, Understanding, Experimentation, Regular use and Innovation. In addition, an evaluation matrix is presented for assist the professional practitioner of Ergonomics that carries out the evaluation at the enterprise using the proposed model. The results of this evaluation can be used for planning new strategies in order to enhance the introduction, application and development of ergonomics in the enterprise, and consequently contribute to the high performance of the business.
