207 dogs of different age and sex with suspicion of atopic dermatitis went in for an intracutaneous test after other diseases connected with pruritus were as strictly as possible excluded. All showed positive reactions. The results were evaluated with regard to the applied test allergenic solutions and the concerned dog races. Beside positive and negative controls altogether 44 test allergenic solutions of the Artu firm, Emmerich, were available of which 18 were not-seasonal. The results confirm altogether previous results in other European countries. Nevertheless it seems that D. farinae plays a smaller part for allergic reactions in the intracutaneous test in Germany. On the other hand it appeared that solutions of hay dust respectively elm which were not tested in the other examinations produce relatively frequent positive skin reactions in the test. Hints for a race predisposition were ascertained for atopic dermatitis in Bullterrier, Chow-Chow, West Highland White Terrier and Boxer. In comparison of the reaction types on the different allergenic test solutions in the seven mostly occuring races of the examination it became clearly that the Chow-Chow as the other races too reacts distinctly on non-seasonal allergens, in contrast to these he reacts on seasonal allergens as good as not at all.
