摘要：

The article deals with the problem of generations in the Russian society of the late 19th - early 20th cc. The research is focused on the generation self-identification of the historians who entered the Russian academic community in 1880s. The author defines the main components of the image of '1880s' and its role in the shaping of generation identities of Russian historians.
