摘要
Synchrotron radiation from a storage ring is compared to black-body radiation. The beam-line for infrared spectroscopy at Max-lab is described. Measurements of the available intensity and of the noise are presented. A calculation of the shape of sharp bands in Fourier transform absorption spectra obtained with a source with a Gaussian intensity distribution is given. High-resolution spectra of some small molecules are used to illustrate the measurement possibilities with the synchrotron radiation source.
