摘要
A demonstration plant which produces concentrated brine corresponding to 3000 tons of sodium chloride per year from sea water by electrodialysis using ion exchange membranes has been in operation for 2 years. Two tons of sodium chloride per unit cell for a year were produced as concentrated brine, with a concentration of 138 grams per liter, and an electric power consumption of 455 kw.-hr. per ton. This plant operated more than 7900 hours in a year and the ion exchange membranes were proved usable for more than 5 years. © 1969, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
