Theoretical and experimental work on the EHL in Ge in magnetic fields up to 20 T is reviewed. Predictions of a high field phase transition to a two-dimensional Wigner lattice and of a recombination induced dynamic paramagnetism are discussed. De Haas-van Alphen-like oscillations in the luminescence lineshape, total intensity, lifetime and in the ultrasound absorption are reported, revealing both zero-field properties otherwise difficult to determine and a strong field induced stabilization of the liquid. Evidence for a dependence of the drop size distribution on the direction of excitation is presented. The origin of the strong field induced deformation of γ-drops in inhomogeneously strained Ge is discussed. © 1979.
