The effect of the electrostatic field applied to the surface of HTS ceramic samples Y1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-delta (x = 0.1-0.4) in the metal - insulator - superconductor structure upon the superconducting transition temperature T(c) and upon the temperature dependences of the critical magnetic field H(c2) near T(c) is studied. The superconducting properties are found to be enhanced by the negative field. The results are attributed to the field-induced accumulation of charge carriers on the sample surface and local piezoelectric stresses in the surface layer.
