摘要
The amount of harmonic content in the induced voltage waveform of permanent magnet (PM) machines is of concern to the machine designer because of the impact on torque pulsations, noise, and efficiency. In PM machines with surface mounted magnets these harmonics are directly related to the flux density and magneto-motive-force (MMF) distribution in the air gap, which are determined by the shape of the magnet. This paper presents a simple methodology to reduce induced voltage harmonics by selecting the appropriate magnet shape and dimensions. The method, which uses a simplified analytical model of the magnetic circuit, is applied to three basic magnet shapes (rectangular, stepped, and trapezoidal), and can be extended to more complex geometries. The results of the analytical models are compared with results obtained from Finite Element analysis and with test results.
