ALCOHOL-DEHYDROGENASE AS AN ASSAY FOR BIOLOGICAL ZINC IN MAIZE - EVIDENCE FOR A ZINC AVAILABILITY PEPTIDE (ZAP)

摘要
The zinc dependent reactivation of partially purified alcohol dehydrogenase subunits provided the basis of an assay capable of measuring Zn++ at concentrations of 1-mu-M (0.065 ppm) or lower. Pure ADH subunits responded poorly to Zn++ but could be reactivated by a fraction called. Zinc Availability Peptide (ZAP), isolated in a 30000 x g supermatant fraction from excised embryos. ZAP activity was protease sensitive and relatively heat stable. A non-specific protein, BSA, did not substitute for ZAP activity.
