The 200 MWt Nuclear Heating Reactor (NHR-200) is an integrated vessel type light water reactor, which will be built in Northern China as a new energy source for district heating. In order to achieve its economic and safety goal, a number of advanced design features, including integrated arrangement, natural circulation, self-pressurized performance, hydraulic control rod drive and passive safety systems, have been incorporated into the NHR-200. Meanwhile, special emphasis is layed on a comprehensive survey of the design basis accident and the severe accident analyses. This paper will cover the main design features and accident analysis results of the NHR-200.
