INTERACTION OF LIGHT AND TRANSPORT CONTROL IN SEMICONDUCTOR BASED PHOTOELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS

摘要
The response of photoelectrochemical systems to redox and photon flux competition for control of their voltammetric characteristics has been mapped both for ideal model systems and cases of practical interest. Methodology based on programmed hydrodynamics at rotating disk and ring-disk electrodes under controlled illumination schemes has been applied. The model cases utilize metal-coated semiconductors to minimize surface effects. Semiconductor-redox junctions which are subject to parallel photocorrosion are analyzed. The selective reaction of selenide at the n-GaAs electrode in alkaline solution has been observed. The applicability of hydrodynamic modulation techniques to finding suitable semiconductor-redox couple pairs is outlined. © 1979, The Electrochemical Society, Inc. All rights reserved.
