摘要：
The essence of a document, like any other object (thing), manifests itself through its signs, prop erties, and functions. The works that are devoted to the problems of document theory do not trace clear boundaries between these concepts, owing to which it is necessary to unify them. The goal of this paper is to perform a functional analysis of a document as an information object and social phenomenon.
