INVESTIGATION OF THE TITANIUM OXIDATION-STATES BY AUGER-ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
The different stages of the oxidation procedure of polycrystalline titanium have been investigated by Anger electron spectroscopy. The oxidation was carried out under distinct oxygen partial pressures in the range of 5 x 10(-8)-5 x 10(-5) Torr at room temperature. The identification of the formed titanium oxides was based on the line shape analysis of Ti LMM peaks and on the quantification of Ti (387) and the O (508) main peaks. It is shown that the Ti oxidation states can be described observing only the alterations of the titanium satellite features. The method is applicable to reduced and oxidised SrTiO3 samples.
