A field experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) seasons of 1988-89 and 1989-90 at Powarkheda with Indian. mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. Be Cosson], to study the effect of different nitrogen and sulphur levels on yield, nutrient uptake, quality and economics. Application of 90 kg N and 300 kg S/ha significantly increased the seed, oil and protein yields, and protein content in seed. N and S contents and their uptake by grain increased with increasing levels of each nutrients. Higher doses of N decreased the oil percentage in the seed, whereas sulphur up to 40 kg/ha significantly increased it. The highest net returns were obtained from 90 kg N and 40 kg S/ha
