摘要
Omission of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from batch cultures of sycamore (AcerpseudoplatanusL.) caused growth cessation after an initial period of exponential growth. The presence of white light reduced the amount of growth after 2,4-D withdrawal. Growth cessation, in the absence of 2,4-D, was accompanied by the accumulation of the free amino acid, serine. This accumulation began before the cessation of growth and was rapidly reversed by the re-addition of 2,4-D. © 1979 Oxford University Press.
