摘要
Ethylene's ability to enhance potato tuber respiration is well established. In this study the respiratory burst induced by ethylene was associated with changes in the metabolism of glucose and altered pyridine nucleotide levels. The data suggest that the pentose phosphate pathway was proportionally stimulated to a greater degree than the Embden-Meyerhoff-Parnas Tricarboxylic Acid pathway. The oxidized forms of the pyridine nucleotides were increased relative to the reduced forms, suggesting that these changes may playa role in directing glucose catabolism. © 1990, Gustav Fischer Verlag, Stuttgart.
