摘要
A field experiment was conducted during winters of 1984 - 85 and 1985 - 86 to study the effect of N and S on seed and oil yields of Indian mustards (rai) [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson]. Plant height, secondary branches and dry-matter/plant increased significantly up to 75 kg N/ha and functional leaves, leaf-area index and primary branches/plant up to 100 kg N/ha. S @ 75 kg/ha significantly increased the functional leaves, primary and secondary branches/plant in both the years and leaf-area index during 1984 - 85 only. S @ 50 kg/ha increased the plant height and dry-matter production significantly during both the years. N @ 75 kg/ha + S @ 50 kg/ha significantly increased the number and size of siliqua and 1,000- seed weight and also gave the highest seed (17.76 q/ha) and oil (8.74 q/ha) yields on pooled basis. On pooled basis optimum dose of N and S were 73.81 and 43.96 kg/ha respectively. N @ 75 kg/ha gave respectively net income and benefit : cost ratio Rs 6,998/ha and 2.07 during the first year and Rs 6,899/ha and 2.04 during the second year. S @ 50 kg/ha gave a net income of Rs 6,721/ha and benefit : cost ratio 1.90 during the first year and Rs 6,033/ha and 1.78 during the second year.
