摘要
A model to determine the overall heat transfer rates in packed beds subject to flowing gases has been proposed. The model incorporates the axial conduction, the convection between the bed and the flowing gas, and the effect of convection on the conduction mode. The model utilizes a previous theoretical study to estimate the conduction heat transfer, including thermal radiation, between the particles and an earlier experimental study for the convective heat transfer. Numerical results obtained using the proposed model for the total heat transfer were compared with experimental data in the literature. Good agreement was observed, indicating the validity of the model. © 1979, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
