NON-LINEAR GENERATION OF LOW-FREQUENCY COMPONENT AT PROPAGATION IN THE ATMOSPHERE OF AN INTENSE MODULATED ACOUSTIC-WAVE

摘要
An experimental study was made of the generation of a difference signal during the interaction between collinear acoustic waves in a nonlinear medium. The primary beam frequency was 21. 8 kHz, the pulse frequency was 380 Hz, and the source level was about 123 dB. All measurements were made in the far field of the array. The transformation of the difference frequency beam pattern with distance from the acoustic radiator was observed as well as the formation of a local extremum in the difference frequency beam pattern at a certain distance from the beam axis. The experimental results are in qualitative agreement with the theory presented.
