Redesign of the current healthcare system is essential. Despite advanced biomedical knowledge, the United States continues to experience wide variation in healthcare quality and outcomes, and unprecedented healthcare costs.1,2 With healthcare spending expected to reach 20% of the nation's gross domestic product by 2015,. 1 most understand and support the need for health system reform that includes accountable care organizations. © 2013 Mosby, Inc.
