摘要
An exploratory investigation of convective flows in heated liquid layers has uncovered a number of curious phenomena. With steady heating from below, at a point, oscillating temperature and velocity fields have been observed in thin horizontal films. Apparently, the motions are driven by surface-tension gradients. The addition of an elastic monolayer at the free liquid surface revealed a further class of unusual flow patterns. © 1968.
