THE ROLE OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING IN A COMPUTER-TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Computer Technology program at the Nanyang Technological University was conceived as a result of growing demand for computer professionals who are well-educated in both electronic engineering and computer science. This paper concentrates on the role software engineering plays in a computer engineering program. A comparison with typical software engineering courses offered in traditional computer science and information systems programs is made. The paper focuses on the details of the software engineering course content and the project associated with this course. There is also a discussion on how software engineering integrates with the rest of the Computer Technology program.
