COMPUTER-SIMULATION OF PARAMETRIC-INSTABILITIES IN PLASMA WITH 2 ION SPECIES

摘要
The evolution of the parametric instabilities (namely, the aperiodic and modified decay instabilities) in a plasma with ions of two species is studied by means of a macroparticle method. The specific case of a magnetized plasma with an oscillating pumping electric field directed perpendicular to the magnetic-field lines is investigated, the oscillation frequency being close to the lower-hybrid frequency. Unstable oscillations are found to propagate perpendicular to the magnetic field direction. The amplitude of the plasma-ion relative velocity is set to exceed the initial thermal velocity by one order of magnitude. The evolution of the oscillation spectrum as well as the dynamics of the ion turbulent heating are also investigated.
