REACTION BETWEEN CALCIUM-BASED SORBENTS AND SULFUR-DIOXIDE - A THERMOGRAVIMETRIC INVESTIGATION

摘要
A laboratory thermogravimetric study was carried out in the range 800-1300-degrees-C to investigate some aspects of the sulphation mechanism of CaO samples derived from pulverized CaCO3 and Ca(OH)2. The conversion of the sorbents to CaSO4 reaches a maximum at about 1000-degrees-C; Ca(OH)2 is always more reactive than CaCO3 and small pores are not involved in the reaction. Partial carbonation of Ca(OH)2 markedly decreases its reactivity.
