OSCILLATIONS OF [HBRO2], [HBRO], [BR-], AND [CE-4+] IN THE BELOUSOV-ZHABOTINSKY REACTION RECONSTRUCTED FROM QUENCHING EXPERIMENTS

Simultaneous measurements of small-amplitude oscillations of [Ce4+] and [Br-] near a supercritical Hopf bifurcation of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction have been used to reconstruct the oscillations of [HBrO2] and [HBrO] from previously reported quenching experiments. The results provide direct and indirect experimental confirmation and improvement of amplitudes and phases of [Br-] and [HBrO2] determined from a previous "three-dimensional" reconstruction. Amplitudes and phases of [HBrO] oscillations have not been reported before. Difficulties with the experimental determination of the [Br-] amplitude result in some uncertainty in the derived [HBrO] amplitude, in particular.
