Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma: a case report and review of the literature

Paratesticular rhabdo i myosarcomas mostly occur in children and adolescents. The incidence at mi rhabdomyosarco a s unknown n adults. A 27-year-old man presented to our clinic with a two month history of an enlarging mass in the right scrotum and external inguinal ring. Physical examination revealed approximately a lx1 cm sized mass lesion with an irregular nodular surface in the upper part of the right testis. All laboratory investigations, including tumor markers, were within the normal range. Scrotal ultrasonograpic examination demonstrated a 1.5x1.6x0.5 cm hypoechoic mass in the upper part of the right testis. Since preoperative examination did not completely rule out malignancy, right radical orchiectomy was performed. The histological diagnosis was paratesticular rhabdoyosarcoma. After the radical orchiectomy, he was lost in the postoperative 4th month due to systemic metastasis. Although a relatively rare disease, rhabdomyosarcomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of testicular and paratesticular malign tumors.
