摘要
This descriptive research seeks to identify the presence of social approach in studies on information retrieval, using methods and techniques bibliometrics and scientometrics multidimensional, through citation analysis, co-authorship, co-citations and co-words applied in scientific papers and their constituent elements, located in the databases LISA and LIST in the period between 1983 and 2011. The results allowed us not only to map research trends in this field, its concepts and terms and identify the main authors and documents, as well as understand their cognitive and social institutionalization.
