The weakness of human existence do not invalidate the immutability of Personhood. The old and the dying are fully human and are, in all dimensions of life, to be protected. According to the Judea-Christian tradition, the elderly are, through their life experiences, those whose wisdom is revered respected. The care for the dying is a profound Christian task. The hospice movement is for our times an adequate Christian answer for the care-giving of the dying. The development of a current ''Ars moriendi'' remains a special challenge and duty of the Christian community.
