Oxidation of binary alloys of aluminum with alkali-earth metals

摘要
Thermogravimetry and IR spectrometry were used for studying the kinetics of oxidation of binary alloys of aluminum with alkali-earth metals. The concentration dependences of the average oxidation rate and apparent activation energy were determined. The oxidation rate decreases on moving from calcium to barium. The oxidation of liquid alloys in these binary systems follows a parabolic law. The products of oxidation consist of gamma-Al2O3, Al2O3-Ca(Sr,Ba)O and 3Ca(Sr,Ba)O . Al2O3.
