摘要：

In this paper the quality of odor is explained on the basis of a postulated range of nerve endings in the nose, characterized by somewhat different lipid compositions of the membranes. Some odorants can penetrate certain types of cell wall, while not having sufficient energy to penetrate others. On this basis and on the basis of the different rates of healing of the different cell membranes a qualitative and quantitative theory of odor type can be formulated. © 1969.
