THE INTERPRETATION OF SOME STATIC VACUUM METRICS

摘要
The metrics considered are those apparently referring to an infinite line mass, and to a semi-infinite line mass. We find in both cases that the apparent interpretation holds only for certain ranges of the mass parameter. Some different interpretations are suggested for special values of the mass parameter outside these ranges. A physical interpretation is proposed for two vacuum solutions previously given by Kinnersley.
