MAGNETOELASTIC ANISOTROPY DEPENDENCE OF THE INITIAL MAGNETIC-PERMEABILITY IN AMORPHOUS RIBBONS

A phenomenological model for the dependence of the initial magnetic permeability mu on the magnetoelastic anisotropy constant K(sigma) in amorphous ribbons is proposed, taking into account the wall energy and magnetostatic interaction between neighbouring domains. The basic hypothesis is that the magnetostatic interaction due to the inhomogeneity inherent to the amorphous state is dependent on the volumes and the angle between domain magnetizations of the adjacent domains. The model describes both the correlations of the type mu is-proportional-to K(sigma)-1 for K(sigma) < 0, and of the type mu is-proportional-to K(sigma)-1/2, or the presence of a knee followed by plateau for K(sigma) > 0.
